Where it comes from
This didn't start as a business. It started as a mission.
Thirty years ago, we arrived on the coast of Ecuador as young missionaries. We came to serve — and left carrying something we hadn't expected: a deep love for the people, the land, and a culture that shaped us in ways we are still discovering.
Ecuador never let us go. So we went back.
We returned as founders and built Cubano Agricultural Management — CAM — with a clear purpose: to create something lasting for the communities that had given us so much. We started with pitahaya — Ecuador's prized yellow dragon fruit — exporting it to international markets and building real livelihoods for the farming families who grow it. What began as gratitude became a thriving agricultural partnership.
Then we found cacao.
In the lush coastal farms of Ecuador's cacao belt — home to the world's most prized fine-flavor Nacional cacao — we discovered a remarkable byproduct of the harvest. The outer husk of each cacao bean, separated during processing, carries the full, deep aromatic character of the bean itself. Rich. Warm. Layered. A flavor the world's finest chocolatiers have always known — and that the rest of the world was ready to discover in a cup.
We sourced it directly from the farms we know and trust. We perfected the brew. And now we are bringing it to you.
Qara Cacao isn't just a better drink. It's the warm, rich morning ritual that transforms your daily routine into a mindful moment you genuinely look forward to.
